Last week when I had to make the tough decision to suspend my acupuncture practice I came across these words and it became clear to me that I needed to close to reduce the risk of spreading the virus. And, as much as I’ve enjoyed this last week off, I have been missing my patients and keep thinking of the many things I can offer other than hands-on treatment. The many things I have been doing to take care of myself, from taking herbs to dietary choices that I would love to pass that along to you.
And so, I am so very excited to offer video appointments to help you to maintain good health, based on my understanding of your particular health history and concerns. I am stocking up my herbal dispensary with formulas to keep your immunity strong, herbs for allergies, early stage cold/flu treatment, insomnia, anxiety, depression, digestive issues, neck, shoulder, back, and knee pain… I will have some easy-to-use moxa for home treatment, and I can show you the points to apply it to….my very favorite balm for dry, cracked hands from frequent hand-washing…Essential oils with anit-viral properties… I can teach you acupressure and how to self-apply dermal friction to the meridians…I have ideas!
I’ve been digging into the research and finding information about the use of Chinese Herbal Medicine in China in the treatment of Covid-19. I learned that 85% of patients in China with this virus were treated with Traditional Chinese Medicine (acupuncture and herbs) alongside Western Medicine, and with good results. What I read about the use of herbs for prevention and use in the early stages of Covid-19 was encouraging and I am familiar with these herbs, as well as the herbs used for the recovery stage. The more severe stages are out of my scope and best left to Medical doctors and hospital care.
I have added 15 and 30 minute Video Appointments onto my scheduling page at www.becalm.genbook.com. At this time I am looking into billing health insurance for this, the rules around telehealth have been changing to encourage people to stay home and avoid medical clinics. I accept FSA and HSA cards for telehealth visits as well as any herbs prescribed by me. If you need herbs I can bring them to your car and I’ll ask that you either pre-pay via PayPal or pay by check/cash at pick-up.
Lastly, I will be adding a Blog to our website, www.BecalmVashon.com and I’ll be posting more of what is inspiring me these days.
It’s a whole new world, and we must adapt! I pray that you are all finding your way through these difficult times, taking some time out to enjoy the beauty of Spring.
Yours in good health,
Karin
